A Couple More Sophia Songs...

As time goes by we come up with more and more songs! Travis and I are contemplating recording and posting our "Nursing Song Duet." The lyrics are simple: "Nibble, nibble, pause" (that's it!) but when sung as a round we're pretty amazing. ;)

Here are a couple other songs:

The Nursing March:
We nurse and we nurse and we nurse and nurse and nurse
We nurse all day, we nurse all night, cuz nursing's what we like!

The Diaper Song (sung to the tune of "Spider Pig" from the Simpson's Movie)
Diaper Butt
Diaper Butt
Sophia is a Diaper Butt
She wears a diaper all day long
And sings her silly diaper song!

Mommy Loves her Baby (sung to the tune of "I Will" by the Beatles)
I love you cuz I'm your mommy
I love you cuz you're you
I love all that you are and ever will be
I love everything you do!
Love you forever, and forever
I love you the most in the world
Yeah I'll love you forever and leave you never
Cuz you'll always be my little girl
Sophia also loves the ABCs song and the Spanish count to 10 song from Sesame Street (mom, you know which song I mean!). We sing it in English too. Between Travis and I, someone's always singing to her! What's super fun is that now she tries to sing along! She also loves playing with her harmonica, flute, and keyboard. And pretending everything is a drum! And she loves dancing. It's so interesting to discover how musical babies are!

Those Crazy Canines!

Danny, pretending he's a model citizen...
The real Danny! (And his partner in crime!)

Sophia is quite the climber now! And she's holding the leash to her "puppy," Chester (a birthday gift from Uncle Mike)...she takes him EVERYWHERE!

On Why I think (almost) Everyone Wants to be a Parent

You don't need to go to college.
You don't need to have a lot of money.
You don't need to be promoted to get there.
You don't need to qualify.
You don't need to apply.
In a world where most of us work so hard for so little, and spend a lifetime searching for love and meaning, and spend so much of our time steeped in mediocrity and selfishness and sadness; having and caring for a child is our chance to take part in something real and true. Our chance to do something selfless and meaningful. Our chance to experience something so much closer to the natural order of things than our other activities and priorities. Our assurance that, no matter what else life does or does not provide us, we were able to witness one beautiful miracle.
If I leave this life with nothing else, I will still have my time with Sophia.

Potato Days!!!

The two sleepy heads last Monday morning...
Our arrival at "Potato Days" on Saturday!

Sophia's pony ride...when we took her off the pony and started to walk away she cried! She has horse-lover blood for sure! :)

The "strongman" competition...the guys were lifting 100lb potato sacks onto the platform!

Ok, normally I'm a Chevelle girl, but now I have a new dream car: The 1969 Chevy Nova Yenko! There are only 8 left, and this is one of them! (So, as soon as I have half a million dollars...)

Waiting for the parade to start!

The parade was a lot like Bristol's, with lots of tractors and firetrucks and floats! (The big difference is that this parade is 2 HOURS LONG!!!)

The parade probably included every kid from Barnesville :)

You know you're in the midwest when a "Miss Tator Tot 2009" float goes by!

Potato Days was so fun and exhausting :)
