Birthday! Birthday! Birthday! And the 4th of July :)

Due to the 4th holiday, and the 4H show at the fair being the following weekend, we booked Sophia's "kids party" on Saturday June 28, even though her birthday wasn't until July 8!
This was the best "kids party" we have done yet. We invited her whole class and some neighbors, and just the right number of kids (15) attended. I was pretty laid back and did minimal decorating and almost NO food prep... Sophia requested cheesecake variety platters from Sam's Club so I didn't even make cupcakes!
The day was overcast, but still nice. We used a different pool and park than the usual, and it was a really beautiful spot.

Nice pool! The kids had a great time, and the "deep end" was only about 3ft deep, so the parents really got to relax and hang out, which was such a treat.
Kaia with our friend Lily, who is very mother-y with the little ones. :)
For lunch we had watermelon and a veggie platter, and then brought in papa john's! I was smarter this year and just bought a case of juice pouches instead of trying to also serve more adult drinks like cans of soda and bottled water... made things so much easier!

Serving Sophia her cheesecake :)

Pinata! I handed out their goody bags right before the piñata. We just had a couple small toys in each baggie, and then the kids could put candy from the piñata in their bags. So much better than buying loads of treats for both the baggies and the piñata! See, I am getting smarter at this! :)
Sophia unwrapping her presents. She got loads of horse toys this year, which she was so happy about. Her room is very overwhelmed with horse stuff! Kind of reminds me of my room :)
Some of Sophia's favorite friends! Yuri from school, and Lily from our town.
The next day, Sunday, we drove up to Grand Forks for cousin Gunner's 7th birthday! Another pool party.
I apparently didn't take many pics. It was fun! We also stopped at a local horse show where Travis' sister, Lindsey, was riding. It was fun to watch her! Then we took our nephew, DJ, home with us for an extended sleepover.
Sophia and DJ went for a couple rides.

Sophia's favorite part about having DJ stay was sharing her room with him! So we are back to contemplating having the girls share a room, instead of adding to our house. That's a hot debate!
On Thursday evening we headed to Lake Bemidji!
4th of July :)
I spent the morning at the neighboring park with the girls.

Yes, Kaia needed a diaper change. Sorry about the stuffed diaper look! But she was having so much fun! She is so super brave on the playground equipment.

We went out on the boat to watch fireworks over the lake. Sophia took her wine-bottle babysitting job very seriously.

Cousins!!!

By the time we decided to line them up by age Kaia was having a screaming fit. :(

On the 5th we had a little joint party for Ava (birthday was July 6), Hudson (July 7) and Sophia (July 8).
Sophia and her great grandma Snooki.

Kaia is pretty choosy lately about who can hold her, and I was surprised to see her instantly take to her great grandfather, Cash.

A Barbie horse set. Does life get any better?? :)
We drove home Saturday, and Sunday the 6th we were on horses all day. First we took Sunny and Margie out with the girls, then Travis went for a long ride on Bella, then I went for a 3+ mile ride with the neighbor girl, Alicia, on Sunny and I rode Margie.
Alicia is so cute!

We had a really nice ride. Margie did amazing... no lameness and we did some trotting and loping. Margie was fast the whole way and never got tired.

So fun! This weekend is the 4H fair extravaganza. Travis and Sophia are working the fair food stand right now. Then tonight we'll all go the fair to hang out and eat greasy food and take advantage of Sophia's unlimited rides bracelet, and then we'll be back tomorrow morning for the Cloverbud horse show. Another busy weekend!
